The calcium contribution increases the mechanical resistance of the vegetable tissues; it protracts the ripening time and the ageing of fruits in particular, keeping their structure of the cell walls and membranes intact. The most common diseases caused by calium deficiencies are the tomato apical rot which shows up with an injury of the berry apex which becomes black, the apple bitter rot with the decay of the internal pulp, the apical drying up of the vine rachis, the lettuce tip burn which shows up with apical necrosis, the yellowish edge of the poinsettia, the formation of deformed buds and flowers of short duration in flowering plants.

Root treatments: dilute 10 ml in 10 litres water and spread the solution on the soil with a watering can (10 ml for 2-3 m2). Curative action: carry out 2-3 treatments in spring, every 8-12 days when the first symptoms arise. Preventive action: start treatments at the beginning of the growing season, every 10-15 days.
